Origins of the British Royal Family

The origins of the British Royal Family can be traced back to the Anglo-Saxon period. In 829 AD, Egbert, King of Wessex, became the first King of England. Egbert's descendants ruled England for over 200 years, until the Norman Conquest in 1066.

After the Norman Conquest, the British Royal Family was founded by William the Conqueror. William was the Duke of Normandy, and he invaded England in 1066. William's victory at the Battle of Hastings led to the establishment of the Norman dynasty, which ruled England for over 100 years.
